CV

Hello there, I’m Pavel Flait, a digital nomad, and this is an extended version of my CV designed to provide you with a more comprehensive understanding of my professional background.

I am seeking a DevOps / Platform / Ops Engineer role bridging system administration, CI/CD, and IT management focused on tool development and architecture design. I enjoy teamwork and a startup-style environment. Beyond core responsibilities, I actively help with a company’s media as a technical expert or producer. I have skills in video production and audio engineering. Remote work is preferred; a hybrid format (several days per week) is also acceptable. I am available for on-call rotations. For hybrid work, a well-equipped and comfortable office environment is important for productivity. I love working with motivated people who are care about their work and driven to make the world a better place.

  • Hardware: I set up and maintain HPE, Dell, and Huawei (OceanStor All-Flash) servers. I also handle Synology storage and fiber switching between nodes.
  • Virtualization: Deep experience with VMware, Hyper-V, and Proxmox. I take care of the whole cycle: from design and part sourcing to mounting and daily maintenance.
  • Server Room: I build racks from scratch, calculate power/cooling needs, and design backup power plans.

Result: I can design and build a reliable data center from the ground up.

  • Access: I set up secure corporate networks using RADIUS, TLS, and IdP integrations.
  • Wi-Fi: Built UniFi mesh systems so employees have one account for both email and Wi-Fi.
  • Self-hosted Wiki: Deployed Outline on Proxmox/Fedora with a modern stack (Docker, MinIO, Redis, Caddy). It’s fully automated via private Gitea and uses Google OIDC for easy login.
  • Smart Backups: Switched to btrfs snapshots and Proxmox Backup Server.
  • Cutting Costs: I dive deep into billing reports to find errors or waste. By consolidating services, changing plans, and negotiating discounts with vendors, I saved the company $9,000/year without losing any features.
  • Monitoring: I use Prometheus and write custom exporters in Go (e.g., for Cloudflare Stream) to track the metrics that actually matter for the business.
  • Jenkins Pipelines: I fix bottlenecks to make builds faster. I keep things secure by using “distroless” images, policy-as-code, and smart secret management. I also automated Cloudflare cache purging to keep content fresh.
  • Back-office Support: I help accounting teams with digital signatures, EDI, and software updates. I act as a bridge between finance, 1C-developers, and DBAs.
  • Custom Scripts: I love automating routine tasks. For example, I wrote JS scripts for YouTrack to auto-import Release Notes from GitHub and created cleanup tools to keep cloud databases small and easy to back up.
